Pride In Health is an independent health agency that provides a platform for independent clinicians to work together and support our trans, non-binary, and intersex community. We focus on harm reduction, informed consent, and helping people access safe, affirming healthcare.
No. Pride In Health is not a private clinic. It’s a platform that connects clients with trusted independent healthcare professionals who work together as a multidisciplinary team (MDT). Care is delivered by the clinicians themselves, not directly by Pride In Health.
We are preparing for registration with Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS). HIS regulates independent healthcare services operating in Scotland, including online healthcare. While this process is underway, the independent clinicians continue to work in full compliance with their own professional bodies such as the GMC, NMC, and HCPC.
We are based in Scotland and support clients across the UK through online services. All services are provided remotely unless otherwise stated.
No. Pride In Health is not an emergency or crisis service.
If you ever feel unsafe, unwell, or in crisis, please contact NHS 111, your local urgent or mental health crisis service, or attend your nearest A&E. In an emergency, always call 999.
No. Pride In Health does not hold or dispense medication. When a clinician issues a prescription, it is sent digitally via SignatureRX. You can then collect your medication from any pharmacy that accepts SignatureRX prescriptions. Pharmacies set their own prices for medication.
No. The prices listed for appointments and prescriptions cover the clinician’s time and the legal prescription document only. Medication costs are charged separately by the pharmacy you choose.
If you are under Shared Care, then your clinician will provide a treatment recommendation letter to your GP, which includes your medication details and monitoring plan. Your GP uses this information to decide whether to issue prescriptions through the NHS.
If your GP can’t take over prescribing, the clinicians working with us can continue to provide prescribing support through the Prescribing Pathway. This ensures you remain safely monitored and have continued access to your medication. Please be sure you can afford the costs of Prescribing Support beforehand
Most clients have blood tests every three months when starting treatment, then every six months once stable. Specific timings may depend on your treatment plan and health needs.
We do! Pride In Health was created with harm reduction at its core. We work with people who self-manage their care to ensure they have access to blood tests, counselling, and safe monitoring, as well as support with life admin.
Anyone aged 18 or over who lives in the UK seeking gender affirming care can register. You’ll need to complete a short registration process, and pay the relevant registration fee for your chosen pathway.
At present, Pride In Health can only support clients based within the UK. This includes England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
We aim to process registration requests within 5 working days, though it's often much quicker.
Yes you can! All clients are provided with access to their Carebit Portal, where they can manage bookings, upload documents, message personal information, and track their care.
You can, we try to make it as simple as possible to move between pathways as your needs change. For example, from Flexible Support to Prescribing Support or to Shared Care once your GP is ready to take over prescribing.
These details help your clinician make sure that any treatment or medication prescribed is safe and suitable for you. Hormones and other medicines can affect things like blood pressure, weight, and metabolism, so having this information means your care can be monitored safely over time. It also helps identify if any adjustments might be needed to keep you feeling well throughout your journey.
You can measure your height and weight at home using a tape measure and bathroom scales, or ask your GP surgery or local pharmacy if you don’t have access to these.
Once you know your height and weight, you can calculate your BMI using the NHS BMI calculator here: https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-weight/bmi-calculator/.
Blood pressure can be checked at most pharmacies, GP surgeries, or using a home monitor. If you’re using your own monitor, please make sure you’re seated and relaxed before taking your reading.
If you’re unsure or don’t have access to equipment, you can let us know, and we'll guide you on what’s needed for your stage of care and how to get it checked safely.
Before you move, we recommend requesting a PDF copy of your medical records from your current healthcare provider. This should include details of your medication, treatment plans, and any relevant diagnosis letters. Having this ready helps the clinician reviewing your case to understand your background and ensure your care remains safe and consistent.
Once you register, you’ll be able to upload these securely to your portal once you’ve registered.
Try to gather as much as you can before moving:
All medical records and diagnosis letters must be provided in English so the reviewing clinician can ensure your care meets UK clinical and safety standards. If your documents are in another language, they’ll need to be professionally translated.
You can use certified translation services, often available online, though it's important to ensure the translation is certified and includes the translator’s signature or stamp.
If you don’t have access to your records when registering, that’s okay, you can still begin your application. However, it may mean we’ll need additional information from you to make sure any care provided by independent clinicians is safe and accurate.
This may include new baseline blood tests, confirmation of current medication, or details about your past treatment and health history.
It’s important to share any existing medical conditions or current medication you take so your clinician can review for potential interactions or risks.
If you’ve recently moved and don’t yet have a registered UK address, you can use official correspondence that shows your name and current temporary address, for example, a tenancy agreement, utility bill, or government letter once received.
If you’re staying temporarily with someone, a letter from your host or landlord confirming your stay, along with proof of their address, may also be acceptable.
Once you have your own address, you’ll need to update this in your portal so your records remain accurate
Unfortunately, PO Box addresses can’t be used as proof of address for registration or identity verification. Proof of address must link to a residential location where you can receive official correspondence, this helps ensure your records meet UK legal and clinical verification requirements.
Some medications and brands used in other countries may not be licensed or available for prescribing in the UK. For example, injectable oestrogen (such as estradiol valerate or cypionate) is not currently available through UK pharmacies and cannot be prescribed by UK clinicians.
If this applies to your medication, your clinician will discuss equivalent or alternative options that meet UK prescribing standards..
After registration, you’ll have access to your secure online portal, where you can upload documents under the Documents or Test Results section. Files are encrypted, and only the clinicians supporting your care and the admin team responsible for managing your record will be able to view them.
Care is provided by independent healthcare professionals who work together as part of our multidisciplinary team (MDT). This includes doctors, nurse prescribers, psychologists, and other healthcare specialists, each registered with their respective professional bodies.

Yes you can! We welcome working with clinicians who share our values of harm reduction, and informed consent. Clinicians can support through shared care and can also apply to join the platform to offer services to clients through our systems.
We do, if you’re a GP or healthcare professional supporting a mutual client, (with their consent), we can provide:

Please include the client’s full name, date of birth, and your professional details. We will need to gain consent from our client prior to sharing information, unless certain safeguarding requirements are met.
Clients should complete the online registration form themselves to ensure informed consent. However, professional can contact services@prideinhealth.co.uk for signposting or to request guidance on how best to support a client.

Yes you can. However, Information can only be shared if the client has provided consent to sharing information.
